Alzheimer's Association Management Institute

Marshall's latest LET'S HAVE LUNCH TOGETHER WORKSHOP, "How to Build More Powerful Board Relationships" was recently presented to executives of the Alzheimer's Association Management Institute

As part of the Institute's national conference in Chicago, Marshall led association Executive Directors and Fund Development Directors through a number of interactive exercises to help them tear down many relationship-building roadblocks...one of the biggest reasons why staffs struggle to turn their board members into fund development pacesetters.

"My directive was to help these executives realize that deep relationships would help them overcome the variables of event (transactional) fundraising. Since special event fundraising is greatly impacted by the external environment (hurricanes, etc.), deeper relationships would help make them less susceptible to disasters and changes in the business climate," said Marshall.

The workshop, developed in concert with the Alzheimer's Association Major Gift executives, delivered new strategies and innovative solutions to help staff:

  • Connect and build stronger chemistry with key board members
  • Motivate and build deeper board commitments
  • Identify and evaluate member's resources and spheres of influence
  • Build mutual goals and accountability
  • Coach board members to fulfill more of their promises
